Responsible for cleaning private houses. Main duties will vary from house to house depending on what is required within each home. Duties will include, hovering, washes dishes, sweeps floors, launders clothes, irons, cleans bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms, study and play areas. Dusts surfaces, mops floors, and inside windows, ovens and fridges.

Primary responsibilities

• Clean houses with a variety of chemicals, disinfectants, and machines.
• Vacuum hardwood floors and carpet.
• Sweep up debris.
• Clean toilets with toilet brush and chemicals.
• Wash soiled clothes and linens.
• Place fresh linens on bed.
• Wash, fold, and stock towels.
• Scrub stains, mold, and mildew from surfaces.
• Empty wastebaskets and take out to bins provided.
• Wash dishes and put dishes away in cupboards.
• Throw out expired food in fridge.
• Clean upholstered furniture and drapes.
• Dust tables, wood surfaces, and shelves.
• Clean and dust window treatments.
• Polish silver.
• Wipe down appliances.
• Stock kitchens with groceries and condiments.
• Mop, polish, and wax floors.
• Restock house with cleaning supplies.
• Replace burned out light bulbs.
• Wash baseboards, walls, and ceilings.
• Turn mattresses, change bedding, plump pillows.
• Refresh flower vases

• Oversees the day to day operation of the house and maintenance projects.
• Supervises other employees, receives guests, directs serving of meals and performs various personal services.
• Employs, dismisses and settles disputes between members of the household staff.
• Deals with all security arrangements.
• Together with the chef/cook helps to plan all catering needs at the residence. Co-ordinates, and is present at, all functions hosted by the employer.
• Organises employer’s travel arrangements.
• Oversees and pays all household accounts. Also maintains budgets.
• Monitors all incoming telephone calls.
• Places orders for wines and spirits, newspapers, household cleaning materials and heating fuel.
• Carries out regular stock checks on all china, crystal and other objects d’art; arranging repair/replacement where necessary.
• In some cases may also undertake ‘hands on’ housekeeping.
• Carries out any other task the employer may reasonably ask.

• Prepares breakfast and afterwards cleans and tidies kitchen and breakfast room.
• Cleans oven after every use.
• Ensures refrigerator is clean and out-of-date items discarded.
• Tidies and cleans all the bathrooms, bedrooms and living areas which have been used (or supervises a domestic help).
• Cleans unused rooms on a less frequent basis (or supervises a domestic help).
• Polishes brass and silver. Polishes fine furniture with appropriate cleaning materials.
• Cleans the inside only of all reachable windows.
• Collects laundry, washes and irons it and returns the items to the appropriate places. Hand washes delicate items.
• Arranges dry-cleaning as required; keeping relevant records.
• Answers door and telephone as required.
• Feeds pets on a regular basis and, where appropriate, exercises them.
• Keeps all exterior patios, pathways and steps clean and tidy.
• Waters household plants.
• Carries out weekly grocery shopping.
• Keeps household accounts.
• Deals with tradesmen/contractors.
• Manages security alarms.
• Carries out any other task that may reasonably be asked

A cook/housekeeper has the same duties as the housekeeper but, in addition, will cook meals of family or dinner party standard.

COOK:
• Prepares and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Clears away, tidies and cleans the kitchen and the room in which the food is consumed.
• Presents menus for approval and discusses daily requirements with employer, house manager or butler.
• Deals with grocery shopping and maintains accounts.
• Places orders for all supplies and perishables. Maintains stock control.
• Keeps kitchen in good condition, cleans all surfaces and floors after use. Keeps pots, pans and all work surfaces well cleaned and polished.
• Cleans oven after every use.
• Ensures refrigerator is clean and out-of-date items discarded.

HOUSEKEEPER:
• Tidies and cleans all the bathrooms, bedrooms and living areas which have been used (or supervises a domestic help).
• Cleans unused rooms on a less frequent basis (or supervises a domestic help).

Duties will be varied depending on household requirements. Modern life often means a constant juggling of family, work, deadlines, a hectic social calendar – the list is endless. Sometimes life is moving at such a fast pace that small, yet highly important things can be overlooked.

Housekeepers/PA’s will undertake all combinations of duties, including cleaning, laundry, cooking, childcare, running errands, driving (shopping and school runs etc.), pet care, and other specialist skills, such as care of a couture wardrobe or antiques and other artefacts. Time For You will source Housekeepers/PA’s for Full-time and Part-time positions.

Personal Assistant Duties will be varied depending on household requirements. These may include personalised support to the family and/or the individual they support. Responsibilities will often include making travel arrangements, organizing events/engagements, running errands, managing appointments or calendars, making reservations, placing orders, answering/returning calls, and many other similar administrative, clerical and support duties. Typical requirements for this position include at the minimum, administrative support experience.

Mother’s Help, this position will have a wider range of childcare experience and be able to assist the parent at home. Usually when a parent is at home with the children and she wants another pair of hands to help with the care of children and housework.

 

Typical duties expected of a Mother’s Help are:
• Assisting the mother with the daily routine from the time the children get up until they are in bed.
• Sorting and putting laundry in the washing machine and tumble dryer, then putting away clean clothes for the family.
• Some families may require a Mother’s help to mind the children and do housework whilst the mother is in the property. Mother’s helps are not expected to take sole charge of the children.
• Assisting with shopping and cooking, cleaning children’s rooms and play areas other housework.

Gardeners can vary from those that merely mow the lawns and generally keep the gardens tidy to those qualified in all aspects of gardening including green-house work, herbaceous borders, pruning, vegetable plots etc.
